Through mindfulness, community building, meditation, and self inquiry activities, we center healing and deepening your relationship with water. No previous swim skills necessary. All aspects of identity (read: queer identities, all body types and ages) welcomed and celebrated. This is a space to examine your fears and water your hopes. Maximum number of Students: 5 |
COMING HOME TO WATER II:
MINDFUL MOVEMENT Who this class is for: Intermediate womxn & non-binary POC swimmers who have taken Coming Home to Water Part One: Breath & Body (or 8+ OSS swim lessons), *and* for whom breathing, gliding, and floating is fully comfortable. Already took part one and ready to learn more advanced technique? This is the course for you! We will continue to weave with water by skill-building in the arenas of movement, more advanced breath technique, and underwater exploration. Centering joy and play, we will gain the experience necessary to enjoy the water with your friends and family, as well as the foundations of stroke development. Through mindfulness, meditation, and self inquiry activities, we center healing and deepening your relationship with water. This class is geared towards adults of color with fear of water, but also welcomes those who already love being in water, and want to develop their skills in a safer space. Maximum number of Students: 5 |
AT PEACE IN THE DEEP I:
BREATH & BODY Who this class is for: Womxn & non-binary folks of color who have completed Swim Foundations I (8+ hours of OSS classes), *and* who feel comfortable and at peace with rhythmic breathing (with submerged exhale), floating, and gliding. At Peace in the Deep is an invitation to transform the depths into a place of peace, comfort, joy, and safety. By slowly and intentionally leaning into trust building with ourselves, each other, and the water, we unravel the fears and blocks that arise in deeper water, and are free to have new experiences. During this 9-hour course, we strengthen skills gained in Swim Foundations I such as breathing, body alignment, and floating, and play with new skills such as jumping into deep water, and deep water safety. Maximum number of Students: 3 |
**Please note, Swim Foundations courses are not stroke classes (crawl, butterfly, etc). We work on the foundational skills and that create efficient form, and an experience of confidence and calm in water. We encourage you to continue your learning in a strokes class!**
