Storyteller, diviner, vibe savant and a lover of people, Yvette Murrell is a facilitator, coach, and healer with over 30 years of experience weaving an embodied approach to social justice, racial justice, and restorative justice into the lives of individuals, organizations, and institutions seeking to create transformative social change. She is a spoken word artist, theatre performer, co-founder and “Connector” of Playback Milwaukee Theatre Company, and practices First Nations and West African indigenous ceremony and ritual in her life. As a facilitator and consultant, Yvette's multifaceted background spans across private and public sectors, non-profit organizations, grassroots social movements, and the creative arts. Yvette puts love into action by being grounded in change work through a practice of being curious, listening generously and weaving spaces for collective transformation. feb 24: Vera Garibaldi
WaterBabies Director, Vera Garibaldi, has trained with world leaders in the field of Aquatics.  After participating in baby-swim classes with her youngest child, Rose, Vera was inspired to develop her own infant swim program which combined family centered learn-to-swim techniques with the latest research in early childhood development. She founded Waterbabies in 1996 and continues to run the business to this day. She continuously seeks to enhance the Waterbabies curriculum to better assist in the mind and body development of her students.  She will be sharing her knowledge on the nervous system and how to work with water instead of fighting it.  This conversation is geared towards swimmers of all abilities.

xóchicoatl bello is an indigequeer mujerista, abolitionist, ceremonalist, earth steward + unicorn mamá. they come from el ombligo del luna aka méxico and the borderlands of Tongva territories, so called Los Angeles, Califas. their medicine walk on the red road is in service to Black, Brown, indigenous, and people of color sovereignty. believing that when we heal with the soil, tend to the seeds, we heal our souls, and remember we have always been free. 
they create spaces of remembrance, where youth and YOU may meet your sacred. meet your  ancestors, and hear the truths that live in your heart with the support of ceremony, plant medicine, and story. xóchicoatl maintains an herbal and healing practice through la mala yerba  that seeks to connect all people to socially-conscious plant and ancestor work. in 2021 they are offering a 9 month BIPOC herbal + ancestor journey, where you may reclaim your birth right to healing in community.

April 28th: Kevin Dawson

Professor and author Dr. Kevin Dawson, teaches history at UC Merced with a focus on the African Diaspora.  He recently received the Harriet Tubman Prize for his book, Undercurrents of Power: Aquatic Culture in the African Diaspora, which corrects and revises the history of swimming to include and recognize the contributions and accomplishments of Africans to aquatics.  This conversation series is open to folks of all identities who want to expand their understanding of Black peoples story with water!

May 26th: Jennifer Moore
Flowing Forward: Sound Meditation with Jennifer Moore

Multidisciplinary artist Jennifer Moore will be sharing a unique experience of mindful breathing and deep-listening with the aid of live sound and music intended for the balance and relaxation of the nervous system.
 

This gathering is a cultural practice space for womxn and non-binary people of color.   This experience will be an embodied sound bath  with reflections on working with water and vibration weaved into our time together.  


Jennifer Moore is a multi-disciplinary artist born and raised in the Northwest, with a focus in poetry, music, sonic meditation and all things sound. She draws inspiration from daily life, bringing those experiences of heaven and hell together into balance through sound. She creates as a practice of love and freedom and invites others to join her under the banner of EmitOneLight Productions. When she is not composing, she is on the 1s and 2s as DJ Freequeensee, a form of alchemy near and dear to her heart.
